Jewiss prepped for British F3 trip to Spa
Kiern Jewiss is poised for an exciting trip to the world-famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps this weekend as the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship heads to international territory for a vital trio of races.
Across three days of fierce competition, 17-year-old Kiern Jewiss will hope to make his mark in the only international round of 2019 at the track that is home to the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix.
The start of the season has proven to be a rollercoaster ride for the FM Conway-sponsored driver. Hit with a number of issues outside of his control, Kiern now sits eighth in the championship standings ahead of this weekend’s action.
Despite having his fair share of mixed fortune in 2019, Kiern has also made two memorable trips to the rostrum – making his mark on the UK’s premier single-make single-seater category. The Morgan Bros-sponsored racer stood on the podium at Snetterton, and claimed more silverware last time out at Donington Park.
Now, Kiern will take on the picturesque 4.352-mile Belgian circuit, as he hopes for more success to push himself up the drivers’ standings, in what is his maiden British F3 campaign.
“Spa is such an incredible circuit to be able to race at,” the Douglas Motorsport driver said ahead of the weekend. “I’ve been watching racing there for as long as I can remember, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to now race there this weekend!
“The season as a whole has been full of lots of ups and downs. In Spa, I am hoping that we will be able to get a string of solid results to reflect our true performance and capability and show some more consistency, which will hopefully return in some more points and silverware for us all – which the team deserve for all their hard work behind the scenes.”
The weekend commences with three test sessions of Friday 19th July which are each 45-minutes long. Qualifying will be held later that afternoon at 16:05 (BST). Saturday 20th will see the opening race of the weekend at 11:40, before the two remaining races follow on Sunday 21st at 08:35 and 14:00 respectively. Both of Sunday’s races will be shown live via the BRDC British F3 website.
