Jewiss makes long awaited switch to cars for Ginetta Junior 2017 campaign
MB Partners are thrilled to announce that our young driver, Kiern Jewiss has signed to drive in the Ginetta Junior 2017 campaign.
The Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running junior series and offers Kiern his first step on the sports car ladder. The series for 14-17 year old racing drivers offers Kiern the perfect stage to showcase his talents as the series is part of the BTCC support series. Not only will Kiern be displaying his ability to BTCC teams and drivers but to thousands of fans at home as the series is broadcast live on ITV, offering a unique opportunity for the Kent-based driver to put his name out to national audience.
The series gives aspiring teenage drivers like Kiern the perfect platform to showcase his talents not only to a massive trackside audience, but to millions of fans at home as part of the highest profile Junior championship in Europe.
The Ginetta Junior Championship is a proven tool in the development of drivers coming from karting and then moving on to a variety of different Motorsport disciplines. A perfect example of this being Lando Norris who finished the 2014 season in 3rd place and propelled him to win the 2015 MSA Formula Championship a season later. The Ginetta Junior Championship is now a proven formula for young drivers and Kiern will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Lando Norris and other successful Ginetta Junior drivers like Seb Morris and Dino Zamparelli.
The season contains 10 race weekends at the UK’s most notorious circuits such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Rockingham Speedway. A total of 26, 15 minute races offer Kiern the opportunity to learn the UK’s top circuits and get a large amount of sports car experience under his belt after being in karting since 2010.
Kiern will be joining the Douglas Motorsport stable when he embarks on his debut season. Douglas Motorsport are renowned in the paddock as one of the best teams on the grid and last year showcased their speed and talent with their driver, Start Middleton, finishing the 2016 season in second place.

Kiern Jewiss
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of finally making the step up into the Ginetta Junior Championship. I’ve loved my time in karting but now is the right time for me to take the next step. My aim is to take each race as it comes. I’m confident with the car, it’s now about getting the mileage in. The Douglas Motorsport team have been great from day one and have helped me to make the transition from karting as smooth as possible.”
Wayne Douglas
Team Principal – Douglas Motorsport
“As one of the UK’s top karters, Kiern is great addition to the Douglas Motorsport team. Although it was a relatively late deal for all of us, which in turn has limited the amount of pre-season testing we managed to fit in, I am sure that once he has some track time in the G40 under his belt, he’ll be challenging for Rookie cup wins.”
Kieren Clark
Head of MB Partners’ Young Driver Academy
“This is going to be the steepest learning curve of Kiern’s career so far. The lateness of the decision hasn’t given us the greatest time to prepare but I have no doubt he will get to grips with it quickly. With the first round coming up next weekend, we will be spending all our time on getting ourselves as prepared as possible.”
