Determined Kiern heads to Silverstone
This weekend marks the penultimate round of the 2018 FIA Formula 4 Championship and Kiern Jewiss heads to Silverstone with a 31 point advantage in the drivers’ standings.
With twenty-four races already contested in the 2018 campaign and just six more remaining, Kiern Jewiss heads to the home of British Motorsport looking to add to the five wins and fourteen podium finishes that sees him sit top of the championship standings.
Despite not winning in the second half of the season, Kiern has still managed to finish inside the top five places in each of the previous six races, picking up crucial points to maintain his lead as the season draws closer to its conclusion.
“Obviously, the second half of the season hasn’t been as strong as I would have liked but we’ve still been scoring good points. A wet Sunday at Knockhill, last time out, meant that I had to take fewer risks and bag the points, but it looks like it’s going to be dry this weekend so I’ll definitely have a different game plan.”
Kiern’s last trip to the 1.639-mile Silverstone National Circuit came at the beginning of the month with the official British F4 test day. Finishing the day’s sessions in 5th and 6th place respectively, Kiern hopes the data gathered from the test will play a key role in this weekend’s chances.
“The test at the start at the month wasn’t so bad, we showed we definitely have the pace to run at the front if we hook everything up so it should be a strong weekend. There are still areas where we can unlock some more pace, using what we have learnt from the tests, so I’m excited to get things started.”
The penultimate race weekend of the 2018 season gets started on Friday morning with the first session of the day at 10:30. Saturday sees the weekend’s qualifying session take place at 10:25, with the first race of the weekend at 14:40. Sunday starts with race two at 09:40, with the third and final race getting underway at 17:15, broadcast live on ITV4.
