Kiern Jewiss heads to Snetterton

The Ginetta Junior Championship returns this weekend after the mid-season break and Kiern Jewiss is off to Norfolk for the sixth round of the season at Snetterton.

Currently 4th in the Drivers’ Standings with 248 points, Kiern’s first half of his debut season in cars has gone from strength to strength since his late call up to the series at the start of the year. Since then, the 15-year old has visited the podium on six occasions and is in a rich run of form having taken five consecutive overall podiums and six Rookie wins on the bounce.

In the Rookie Standings, Kiern commands the top of the table with a 78-point advantage on the next rookie, Harry Dyson.

Kiern also heads his team, Douglas Motorsport, as the highest points scorer and currently leads teammate, and last year’s Rookie Champion, Daniel Harper by 14 points.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Kiern has already shown his ability around the 2.969-mile Norfolk circuit in testing two weeks ago – posting lap times that indicate it could be a successful weekend for the FM Conway-sponsored driver.

Two races this weekend mark the start of the second half of the season and Kiern is hopeful of getting off to a strong start.

“Heading into the second half of the season, I’m looking to kick on and build on my solid start to the season. My form before the season break was really good and I’m confident I can keep this run going. Obviously, we’ll be aiming for the podium but I’m desperate to get to the top step with my first overall win!”

Kieren Clark, Head of the MB Partners’ Young Driver Academy, has been working hard with Kiern and thinks he’s in a strong position entering this weekend.

“I’ve been extremely impressed with Kiern’s first half of the season and how he has developed as a driver both on and off the race track. Kiern’s pace around Snetterton was strong on our visit to the track two weeks ago and he’s been spending countless hours in the MB Sim preparing for this weekend.”

Practice gets underway on Friday with the weekend’s races on Saturday and Sunday at 16:35 (BST) and 12:20 respectively.
