Jewiss heads to Thruxton for Round Three of the Ginetta Junior Championship

Following a successful race meeting at Donington Park in the second round of the Ginetta Junior Championship, Kiern Jewiss is ready to take on the challenging circuit of Thruxton this weekend. Currently sitting second in the Rookie Championship and an impressive seventh overall, Kiern is looking forward to continuing his progression in his debut season in cars.

The 2.4 mile track is located in Hampshire and was the featured venue for BBC3’s series ‘Stars in Fast Cars’ as well as being the home to the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC).

Thruxton has been a staple of the Ginetta Junior Championship calendar and Douglas Motorsport possess good knowledge of the track, having been on the podium the previous two years. At the official test at the circuit last week, Kiern found himself fourth quickest putting him in good stead for the weekend.

Kierns impressive qualifying pace at Donington and two podiums, compounded with the results of the test, have boosted the 14-year-old’s confidence after a challenging start to the season at Brands Hatch.

“I can’t wait to get to Thruxton and build on the success of the last round. Douglas Motorsport are well prepared and know the track, so I hope I can do a good job for them. I’m learning something every time I get in the car, so this weekend I just want to keep developing my car skills and building on my understanding.”

Kieren Clark, Head of the MB Partners Young Driver Academy, is pleased with Kiern’s progress and is confident that his progression will continue.

“Kiern has shown that putting in the ground work and focusing on our established goals is having the desired effect. I’m confident that we can come away from this round with another good result.”

The event starts on Saturday the 6th of May with Free Practice and qualifying. Sunday plays host to two races; with both Ginetta Junior events live on ITV4 at 11:20 and 15:55 GMT.
